Zoya Gretchen and Femme Fatale Heart’s Desires

Zoya Gretchen is a nude-ish brownish dusty rose kind of colour that I applied here in two coats (plus top coat). The accent nail is two coats of Femme Fatale Heart’s Desires, a very unique mauve-ish dusty rose base filled with red-gold-green flakies and tiny red holo microglitter sparks. Photos with flash.

The next day I added two coats of Heart’s Desires overtop of Gretchen and stamped on the accent nail using Kleancolor Metallic Green and an image from Hehe-024. The combo of Heart’s Desires plus green made the accent nail look kind of orange overall!

Here’s the reason I bought Zoya Gretchen – former feral kitty Gretchen! She’s a torbie (brown tabby with some orange tabby patches), although it doesn’t really show in these photos.

Gretchen actually doesn’t really get along very well with a lot of the cats, but there are a few she likes. Here she is cuddled up and spooning with Tex! <3<3<3

Ellagee Zaldrizes and Mhysa

These two polishes are from Ellagee’s Fire Made Flesh collection, and they come with these cool dragon claw rings around the bottle tops.

Zaldrizes is a pale yellow-beige nude with gold glass fleck.

I used two coats plus top coat.

I used french tip guides to make half-moons and applied Mhysa, a blue with gold glass fleck that appears a bit green through the blue, overtop.

I used two coats of Mhysa followed by a final layer of topcoat.

Black Cat Lacquer The Emperor

The Emperor by Black Cat Lacquer is from their Tarot collection. The name is also one of the (many, many) nicknames of one of my cats – SP, aka Emperor Spee. 😀

The Emperor is a dark brown creme-based holo with additional irregular-shaped micro holo shards. I had seen them described as both ‘flakes’ and ‘shreds’ so I wasn’t sure if they were flakes of true holo particles (smooth) or if they were more like glitter shards (slight texture that needs a topcoat to smooth), so I wanted to mention that it’s the latter, in case anyone is uncertain like I was. Here is the Emperor under Ottlite:

blackcatlacquer_theemperor_zoya_codie_nina_ott

I used two coats plus top coat. The accent nail has a base of Zoya Codie with a half moon in Zoya Nina. Under halogen light:

With flash:

Love this deep brown combo, even if in most lighting the contrast between the two colours on the accent nail wasn’t as strong as I’d thought it would be.

And here are some pics of my feline Emperor Spee; he’s a little black cat and with the bright sunlight bringing out the brown highlights in his fur, The Emperor polish matches him well! ❤

I then added stamping using Colour Alike “A Blue Ocean” over Matcha Doing Today and “A Fresh Mojito” over Honeymoon. The image is from It Girl plate 101.

Happy Halloween!

Here are some Halloween nails featuring two Pretty and Polished dusty cremes! I started with two coats plus top coat of In The Buff, a mustard yellow with the tiny dusty speckles characteristic of this collection. This first Ott lite photo is the most colour accurate; in the other flash photos it appears more orangey than in real life.

With flash:

I then sponged on a gradient using the orange polish from the dusty cremes collection, called CD 255,165.

Finally I added some Halloween stamping using Kleancolor Metallic Black and Bundle Monster plate BM-H08. They went on a little patchy, but I’ll just say they’re ghostly bats and cats and eyes!

LA Girl Allure, Orly Ablaze, Black Dahlia Lacquer Fuchsia Flower, and stamping

Here’s a kind of skittley mani, due to a comparison I wanted to do. It started out as LA Girl Allure with an accent nail of Black Dahlia Lacquer Fuchsia Flower, but then I switched my index nail to Orly Ablaze since I wanted to see how it compared to Allure.

lagirl_allure_orly_ablaze_blackdahlia_fuchsiaflower

Ablaze is more orange, while Allure is more coral, and of course they have different shimmer as well; Orly’s gold shimmer is larger flecks while the LA Girl’s is very fine.

lagirl_allure_orly_ablaze_blackdahlia_fuchsiaflower3

Fuchsia Flower has blue glass flecks in it, which aren’t showing up very well on the nail in these pics but you can see clearly in the bottle below.

lagirl_allure_orly_ablaze_blackdahlia_fuchsiaflower2

I stamped on the mani using Fingerpaints Minimalistic Mauve (over the coral/orange nails) and Picturesque Purple (over Fuchsia Flower), and plate Hehe-040.

Black Dahlia Lacquer Teal Hydrangea and comparison

Teal Hydrangea is a gorgeous turquoise/teal creme polish. I used two coats plus top coat; the formula was great.

Here’s a comparison with a couple of other turquoises: left to right/top to bottom are BDL Teal Hydrangea, China Glaze Aquadelic (2 coats plus top coat), China Glaze Too Yacht to Handle (3coats plus top coat).

Indigo Bananas Spring 2015

indigobananas_spring2015

Better late than never? I’ve got skittle swatches of the Indigo Bananas Spring 2015 collection today. I used three coats for each plus top coat, and the swatch photos are all with flash.

Holding the bottle of Saffron Revolution:

Holding the bottle of Cherry Blossom Roads (which is on my thumb and is shown in the next pics):

Thumb to pinkie: Cherry Blossom Roads, Saffron Revolution, Land of Green Ginger, Fluffy Little Clouds, Jacaranda.

Love these pretty pastels with contrasting glass flecks! Here are some pics showing the colours of the glass fleck shimmer in the bottles:

indigobananas_jacaranda_fluffylittleclouds_saffronrevolution_shimmer

From left, Jacaranda’s glass flecks shift from pink to gold. Fluffy Little Clouds and Saffron Revolution have the most similar shimmer among the five shades.

indigobananas_fluffylittleclouds_saffronrevolution_shimmer

But, you can see that Fluffy Little Clouds has purple to pink glass flecks while Saffron Revolution seems to have those same ones plus some turquoise ones.

Cherry Blossome Roads has turquoise-green glass flecks while Land of Green Ginger’s are golden.

Today I have swatches of three beautiful scattered holos from Il était un vernis’ summer collection.

iletaitunvernis_myfavoritepopsicle_shade2

First is My Favorite Popsicle, a pink-red scattered holo with pink glass fleck shimmer. Two coats plus top coat; it has an excellent smooth formula and was almost opaque in one coat. Shown in the shade in these first two photos.

Black Dahlia Lacquer New Dawn and comparison

This pretty light rosy taupe nude shade is Black Dahlia Lacquer New Dawn.

blackdahlialacquer_newdawn3

It’s full of holo microglitter, turquoise glass fleck, and pink-purple-blue shifting microflakies.

blackdahlialacquer_newdawn2

I used two coats plus top coat.

In the shade:

I did a comparison with a couple of polishes that aren’t really that close, heheh. Index finger is Ruby White Tips Kim and ring finger is Maya Cosmetics Vintage.

rubywhitetipskim_blackdahlianewdawn_mayavintage2 (Top to bottom: RWT Kim, BDL New Dawn, Maya Vintage, BDL New Dawn)

Kim is pinker and has very subtle scattered holo particles (not microglitter like New Dawn). Vintage is a much darker dusty rose-mauve and also has holo particles as opposed to microglitter.
