Happy Pi Day!

For Pi Day I stamped over A England Whispering  Waves using Hehe plate Hehe-053 and Colour Alike “a Venus”. Only had time to do a couple of nails with the Pi-themed stamping plate…

Here is Whispering Waves on its own; two coats plus top coat.

Happy Year of the Monkey!

I’m posting a bit late but here are the nails I did for the Lunar New Year!

The red is Picture Polish Arabian and the stamping is from Hehe plate 042 using Kleancolor Metallic Yellow. First two photos in shade.

Flash photos:

The holo still doesn’t show very well in these pics but it’s there amongst all those glass flecks!

I used two coats of Arabian plus top coat. It has a great formula.

Love this stamping plate! Happy New Year to everyone celebrating 🙂

Pretty Serious Pookie and stamping

Happy New Year! This beautiful, bright blue polish is Pookie from the Pretty Serious Well Meaning But Ultimately Quite Awkward Pet Names collection!

prettyserious_pookie2

Two coats plus top coat, great formula! Love this unique shade of turquoise blue!

prettyserious_pookie

Now, Pookie is one of the nicknames  of my cat Possum – actually, The Lady-Pookie is her full nickname. Because Pookie was a nickname of one of my parents’ cats (may he rest in peace) who was an orange tabby, and Possum is also an orange tabby but a female orange tabby.  I tried to take a “my nails and my cat” pic here but she wasn’t too thrilled with the flash!

prettyserious_pookie_possum_flash

I stamped over Pookie using Kleancolor Metallic Orange and these cute little roly-poly cats that remind me of Possum, from Hehe plate Hehe-023!

Here’s Possum still at the top of that cat tree, still not looking too thrilled!

Sometimes she likes to roll around on the floor and show off her super fluffy belly!

A England Cathy and Jane Morris

Today I have A England Cathy and Jane Morris to show you. Cathy is a pale grey with a lavender tone, subtle holo, and blue shimmer flecks. Jane Morris is a charcoal grey holo with blue-to-purple glass fleck shimmer.

aengland_cathy_janemorris6

I used two coats each plus top coat. Jane Morris is almost a one-coater. Both have great formulas! I stamped a crane on Cathy using Jane Morris and Hehe plate Hehe-048.

Zoya Gretchen and Femme Fatale Heart’s Desires

Zoya Gretchen is a nude-ish brownish dusty rose kind of colour that I applied here in two coats (plus top coat). The accent nail is two coats of Femme Fatale Heart’s Desires, a very unique mauve-ish dusty rose base filled with red-gold-green flakies and tiny red holo microglitter sparks. Photos with flash.

The next day I added two coats of Heart’s Desires overtop of Gretchen and stamped on the accent nail using Kleancolor Metallic Green and an image from Hehe-024. The combo of Heart’s Desires plus green made the accent nail look kind of orange overall!

Here’s the reason I bought Zoya Gretchen – former feral kitty Gretchen! She’s a torbie (brown tabby with some orange tabby patches), although it doesn’t really show in these photos.

Gretchen actually doesn’t really get along very well with a lot of the cats, but there are a few she likes. Here she is cuddled up and spooning with Tex! <3<3<3

Autumn stamping

I had better share this fall-themed manicure before the snow flies, which fortunately hasn’t happened yet here!

emilydemolly_copperpatina_femmefatale_infamousriddle6

The base for this mani was Emily de Molly Copper Patina and Femme Fatale Infamous Riddle.

emilydemolly_copperpatina_femmefatale_infamousriddle5

Copper Patina is a turquoise creme with pink-to-gold duochrome shimmer. I used two coats plus top coat.

emilydemolly_copperpatina_femmefatale_infamousriddle4

Infamous Riddle is an olive-leaning green jelly with strong red-to-gold duochrome shimmer. I used three coats plus top coat for this one.

emilydemolly_copperpatina_femmefatale_infamousriddle3

I really love both of these polishes!

emilydemolly_copperpatina_femmefatale_infamousriddle2

I stamped fall leaves and trees on them using Kleancolor’s Metallic Orange, Metallic Mango, and Metallic Brown.

The plates used were Bundle Monster BM-04, Hehe 048, and Born Pretty BPL-015 for the tree.

So happy with how these turned out! Here are approximately a zillion more photos, heheh. 😉

OPI Glacier Bay Blues and BB Couture Pipe Bender

This mani features an old, hard-to-find black label OPI called Glacier Bay Blues, which has a navy blue base with purple-to-green duochrome shift. The ring finger accent is BB Couture Pipe Bender, which has a muted dark green base with some subtle purple duochrome shimmer. I used three thin coats for each (although the BB Couture could easily be a two coater) plus top coat.

This first one is a phone pic in sunlight, where the duochrome effect is less apparent:

I added some stamping to the accent nail that didn’t really turn out, since it’s not very visible, but here it is anyway. I used my bottle of Kleancolor Metallic Sapphire, which is strangely no longer its original royal blue colour, but is now a dusty dark purple. I’ve seen fading blue pigments before, but this was kind of strange in that it turned really quite purple! It almost looks like OPI Ink Suede now, except more muted and even more purple. Anyway, it wasn’t enough of a contrast to Pipe Bender to show up well, unfortunately, and I liked the mani better without the stamping. The image is from plate Hehe-024.

LA Girl Allure, Orly Ablaze, Black Dahlia Lacquer Fuchsia Flower, and stamping

Here’s a kind of skittley mani, due to a comparison I wanted to do. It started out as LA Girl Allure with an accent nail of Black Dahlia Lacquer Fuchsia Flower, but then I switched my index nail to Orly Ablaze since I wanted to see how it compared to Allure.

lagirl_allure_orly_ablaze_blackdahlia_fuchsiaflower

Ablaze is more orange, while Allure is more coral, and of course they have different shimmer as well; Orly’s gold shimmer is larger flecks while the LA Girl’s is very fine.

lagirl_allure_orly_ablaze_blackdahlia_fuchsiaflower3

Fuchsia Flower has blue glass flecks in it, which aren’t showing up very well on the nail in these pics but you can see clearly in the bottle below.

lagirl_allure_orly_ablaze_blackdahlia_fuchsiaflower2

I stamped on the mani using Fingerpaints Minimalistic Mauve (over the coral/orange nails) and Picturesque Purple (over Fuchsia Flower), and plate Hehe-040.

Zoya Jasmine, Zoya Blossom, and stamping

I’ve got some more nails inspired by my cat Jasmine to show you today! Her full name is actually Jasmine Blossom so I wanted to use these two polishes together for some nail art. First some swatches of the polishes used. Both are older, discontinued Zoya shades.

zoya_jasmine_shade2

Zoya Jasmine, three coats plus top coat. The third wasn’t strictly necessary but did deepen the colour slightly. Shown here in overcast natural light.

zoya_jasmine_shade

Jasmine is a shimmery metallic berry red-pink. Under Ott lite:

zoya_jasmine_ott

With flash:

zoya_jasmine_flash

Zoya Blossom, a slightly peachy off-white with fine pink shimmer. I’m not sure if this was three or four coats; I apparently forgot to write it down! I did write down that the formula was a little thin (which makes me think it’s probably four coats) but surprisingly un-streaky for a white! Under Ott lite:

Under halogen light:

I then stamped over Blossom using Jasmine, with an image of jasmine blossoms (? that’s what I decided these flowering branches were, anyway! haha) from plate Hehe-023. Photos of the stamping are all with flash.

I loved this combo!!

And now some photos of my semi-feral Jasmine: a collage with her sitting in a box and with her brother Thor, with whom she’s very close (and Julius lolling about in the background of one!) , and then one of her on the bed (she was actually leaned up against my leg when I woke up from a nap!)

Picture Polish Douceur and stamping

Picture Polish Douceur is a very pretty pale pinkish-beige nude shade with scattered holo and small and medium magenta hex glitter. I used two coats plus top coat. With flash (as are the later photos with the accent nail):

picturepolish_douceur

Under Ott Lite:

picturepolish_douceur_ott

I stamped an scaly-patterned accent nail using Finger Paints Minimalistic Mauve (which I think would have been better named minimalistic magenta) and plate Hehe-005.
