Zoya Natalie and comparisons

Someone on Makeup Alley’s nail board was asking about dupes for Zoya Natalie so I did some comparisons. First, here’s Natalie.

No exact dupes but some similarities here!

Madam Glam Caribbean Island and stamping

This turquoise beauty is Madam Glam Caribbean Island, one of their regular nail polishes. It’s similar to China Glaze Too Yacht to Handle but a little bit lighter.

Two coats with top coat, in shade:

With flash:madamglam_caribbeanisland_flash

I stamped using Colour Alike “b. a Fairy Forest” and “b. a Sunshine” and designs from Born Pretty plate BP-L015.

China Glaze That’s Shore Bright

Just a quick post to share my favourite neon purple, That’s Shore Bright by China Glaze! Being a neon purple, it’s hard to photograph accurately. I had to use my phone because it’s much more accurate for certain shades of purple and blue than my camera is! The first photos are under Ott Lite.

I used three coats of polish plus top coat here. The next photos are under halogen light.

Pretty Serious Pookie and stamping

Happy New Year! This beautiful, bright blue polish is Pookie from the Pretty Serious Well Meaning But Ultimately Quite Awkward Pet Names collection!

prettyserious_pookie2

Two coats plus top coat, great formula! Love this unique shade of turquoise blue!

prettyserious_pookie

Now, Pookie is one of the nicknames  of my cat Possum – actually, The Lady-Pookie is her full nickname. Because Pookie was a nickname of one of my parents’ cats (may he rest in peace) who was an orange tabby, and Possum is also an orange tabby but a female orange tabby.  I tried to take a “my nails and my cat” pic here but she wasn’t too thrilled with the flash!

prettyserious_pookie_possum_flash

I stamped over Pookie using Kleancolor Metallic Orange and these cute little roly-poly cats that remind me of Possum, from Hehe plate Hehe-023!

Here’s Possum still at the top of that cat tree, still not looking too thrilled!

Sometimes she likes to roll around on the floor and show off her super fluffy belly!

Zoya Gretchen and Femme Fatale Heart’s Desires

Zoya Gretchen is a nude-ish brownish dusty rose kind of colour that I applied here in two coats (plus top coat). The accent nail is two coats of Femme Fatale Heart’s Desires, a very unique mauve-ish dusty rose base filled with red-gold-green flakies and tiny red holo microglitter sparks. Photos with flash.

zoyagretchen_femmefataleheartsdesires2

zoyagretchen_femmefataleheartsdesires

The next day I added two coats of Heart’s Desires overtop of Gretchen and stamped on the accent nail using Kleancolor Metallic Green and an image from Hehe-024. The combo of Heart’s Desires plus green made the accent nail look kind of orange overall!

Here’s the reason I bought Zoya Gretchen – former feral kitty Gretchen! She’s a torbie (brown tabby with some orange tabby patches), although it doesn’t really show in these photos.

Gretchen actually doesn’t really get along very well with a lot of the cats, but there are a few she likes. Here she is cuddled up and spooning with Tex! <3<3<3

Different Dimension Pluto is Still a Planet To Me, Pretty and Polished Weather the Storm, and a comparison

Different Dimension Pluto is Still a Planet to Me is a denim-blue polish with gold fleck shimmer. I used three coats plus top coat.

differentdimension_plutoisstillaplanet_prettyandpolished_weatherthestorm4

On my ring finger is Pretty and Polished Weather the Storm, a greyed blue dusty creme. Two coats plus top coat for this one.

I wanted to compare these two blues to Zoya Skylar.

prettyandpolished_weatherthestorm_zoya_skylar

Skylar is on my thumb below. Three coats plus top coat; the formula was a little thin. The photo is unfortunately a little overexposed.

differentdimension_plutoisstillaplanet_prettyandpolished_weatherthestorm_zoya_skylar2

As you can see the base of Skylar is similar to Weather the Storm but it’s  even more of a greyed, faded shade of blue. The shimmer particles are smaller glass fleck than those in Pluto, and are silvery/multicolour in tone. Pluto is the brightest blue of the three.

Here is a photo of Skylar on my thumb, better showing the tiny multicoloured glass fleck.

Pretty and Polished Thyme and Time Again and Indigo Bananas Olive Time and Space

Today I have two polishes with “time” in the name to show you. Pretty and Polished Thyme and Time Again is from the dusty creme collection which all have tiny grey speckles throughout. Indigo Bananas Olive Time and Space is a dark olive green from their Fall 2015 holo collection.

prettyandpolished_thymeandtimeagain_indigobananas_olivetimeandspace4

I used two coats plus top coat for each polish. All photos are with flash.

prettyandpolished_thymeandtimeagain_indigobananas_olivetimeandspace2

prettyandpolished_thymeandtimeagain_indigobananas_olivetimeandspace

I added some (almost invisible) stamping on Thyme and Time Again using Olive Time and Space to stamp and an image of an asparagus tip from MoYou London plate Cookbook 14. Love the asparagus image! But should have used colours that contrast better! Ah well, nice and subtle and helps to hide the crooked stamping. 😉

Black Cat Lacquer The Emperor

The Emperor by Black Cat Lacquer is from their Tarot collection. The name is also one of the (many, many) nicknames of one of my cats – SP, aka Emperor Spee. 😀

The Emperor is a dark brown creme-based holo with additional irregular-shaped micro holo shards. I had seen them described as both ‘flakes’ and ‘shreds’ so I wasn’t sure if they were flakes of true holo particles (smooth) or if they were more like glitter shards (slight texture that needs a topcoat to smooth), so I wanted to mention that it’s the latter, in case anyone is uncertain like I was. Here is the Emperor under Ottlite:

blackcatlacquer_theemperor_zoya_codie_nina_ott

I used two coats plus top coat. The accent nail has a base of Zoya Codie with a half moon in Zoya Nina. Under halogen light:

With flash:

blackcatlacquer_theemperor_zoya_codie_nina_flash2

Love this deep brown combo, even if in most lighting the contrast between the two colours on the accent nail wasn’t as strong as I’d thought it would be.

And here are some pics of my feline Emperor Spee; he’s a little black cat and with the bright sunlight bringing out the brown highlights in his fur, The Emperor polish matches him well! ❤

Zoya Rowan and Different Dimension Solar Flares

Zoya Rowan is a greyish taupe in Zoya’s satin matte finish. I used two coats without top coat here.

zoya_rowan2

The formula was great, although the ridges in my nails tend to show through this finish!

zoya_rowan

zoya_rowan3

After the swatch I added a couple of accent nails in Different Dimension Solar Flares, a slightly browner taupe creme with colour-shifting magenta/pink to gold flakes.

zoya_rowan_differentdimension_solarflares3

I used three coats of Solar Flares, no top coat, for these photos.

zoya_rowan_differentdimension_solarflares2

zoya_rowan_differentdimension_solarflares

I then added top coat to both polishes, using my new favourite top coat HK Girl by Glisten & Glow. Dries fast and works great over nail art, though it isn’t big-3 free for those who are concerned about that.

zoya_rowan_differentdimension_solarflares_topcoat2

zoya_rowan_differentdimension_solarflares_topcoat

I also wanted to compare Rowan to Orly Faint of Heart. Here is the comparison – Zoya on my index finger, Orly on my middle finger. I used two coats plus top coat of Faint of Heart.

zoya_rowan_orly_faintofheart_halogen

Faint of Heart is greyer, slightly darker, and when you look at it very close up, it has a ton of tiny specks of pigment in it, kind of like a much more subtle version of the Pretty and Polished Dusty Cremes finish. Again, left to right, Zoya Rowan and Orly Faint of Heart:

Reverse order, left to right, Orly Faint of Heart and Zoya Rowan:

A England Crown of Thistles, Pretty and Polished Amethyst or Am I That?, and stamping

Here’s a very purple mani combining the awesome A England Crown of Thistles with the awesome Amethyst or Am I That? from the Pretty and Polished dusty cremes collection as the accent nail. Under Ott lite:

aengland_crownofthistles_prettyandpolished_amethystoramithat_ott2

I used teo coats of each polish plus top coat, by the way. With flash:

aengland_crownofthistles_prettyandpolished_amethystoramithat_flash2

And then I added stamping using A Berry Smoothie by Colour Alike and my favourite stamping image everrrr from It Girl plate 101! It looks like Penrose Tiles!! Ok, it’s probably actually Penrose pseudo-tiles, I haven’t checked yet. Note to self: nobody knows what you’re talking about, math geek! 😛 Hehe. Anyway… Love this stamping image!!!
