Sparitual Nomad

This gorgeous beauty is SpaRitual Nomad, a complex duochrome-fleck shimmer that dries to a satin-matte finish and has an olive base with copper-pink-to-green shifting shimmer flecks, sometimes giving it a more brown or coppery overall look, sometimes more green. I used two coats, no top coat. The formula was great and dried quickly.

I then added topcoat to see how it would look shiny (looks amazing, of course!), and did an accent nail using Nubar Wildlife on my ring finger. Wildlife is basically the smooth metallic counterpart to Nomad; the colours and their shift are very similar! I also used two coats for Wildlife, no top coat. Love both of these!

A few odds and ends

A few random things, some of them pretty old photos! In reverse chronological order…

China Glaze Metro-pollen-tin, three coats plus top coat, taken with flash. Love this yellow-orange!

IndiePolish Spring Lilac, two coats, plus two coats topcoat (the formula was a little thick so the glitters got a bit lumpy).

OPI Do You Think I’m Tex-y with a jelly sandwich accent nail. I *think* the iridescent glitter in the jelly sandwich was Butter London Tart With a Heart but I’m not 100% positive!

And of course, I can’t post a polish with Tex in the name without posting a picture of handsome Big Tex!

Maya Cosmetics Hex and Pretty Serious Martian Sea

I have some swatches and manis from last year that I still haven’t posted; here is one of them! Shown under Ott Lite:

The olive green is Hex from the now-defunct Maya Cosmetics, and the orangey-brown brick colour is Pretty Serious Martian Sea. Two coats each. Sunlight:

Shade:

They both have great colour-shifting shimmer, especially Martian Sea which shifts from gold through to blue at an extreme angle. Ott lite:

I thought these two went together really well!

Glitter Gal Suede and stamped accents

Today I’m wearing Glitter Gal Suede, a great creme-based taupe brown holo.

Two easy coats plus top coat shown here, with flash.

Under Ott Lite:

This is actually the second day I’m wearing this mani, and I got a couple of chipped nails on my right hand while doing some chores last night, so I decided to repaint those nails with a matching creme polish, Finger Paints Haute Taupe (2 coats although it’s almost a one-coater), and added stamping using Color Club Sugar Rays and an image from Messy Mansion MM13. With flash:

Sugar Rays is a pale silvery taupe shimmer with pink-gold duochrome that works quite well for stamping! Under Ott Lite:

Edited to add: I was thinking that Haute Taupe reminded me a lot of something else I wore recently, Milani Teddy-Bare, so I did this quick comparison. Milani Teddy-Bare is on my index, FingerPaints Haute Taupe on my middle finger (Glitter Gal Suede on my ring and pinky, of course). Both were two coats – when I wore the Milani as a mani, I needed three coats and found the formula thin, but it must have had something to do with the weather or something, because that wasn’t the case when I did the comparison! Anyway, as you can see they are similar but Haute Taupe is significantly warmer toned.

OPI La Boheme

OPI La Boheme is a hard-to-find polish from the 2003 Holiday on Broadway collection by OPI, and is also pretty much my favourite polish ever. Most of the photos are with Ott Lite; a couple where noted are with flash.

It’s a deep burgundy-red with sparkly colour-shifting pigment that goes from red to gold to green.

I wore this polish when I got married. 🙂

I’m not sure whether this was two or three coats. These photos were taken a while ago and I don’t seem to have written it down, at least not in my usual notebook…

It can look very different in different lighting. With flash the purple-ish side comes out:

The rest of the photos show one coat layered over black for maximum multichrome colour-shifting goodness.

With flash, again bringing out more purple:

How much do I love this polish? Well, I even have a backup bottle, and purchased both of them at crazy ebay prices. I still think it was worth it. No regrets for this one!! 😀

Indigo Bananas Hallucinate

Hallucinate is one of the duochrome holos by Indigo Bananas, and I think my favourite of the ones I’ve tried. It’s my kind of colour combination, love it!

The base colour is a golden bronze shade and it has metallic green duochrome shimmer that shifts to pink at extreme angles. Shown above with flash, and the other photos are under my Ott Lite.

Shown are three coats, although you could probably get away with two. The formula was smooth and problem-free and the polish dries quite quickly like most metallic-based holos.

The overall look is often olive green.

At an extreme angle, the coppery-pink side of the duochrome really shows:

Nubar Gold Leaf

Gold Leaf is an awesome older golden-bronze/burgundy duochrome from Nubar. I think this was two coats. Various lighting, with and without flash.

P2 Before Sunrise and The Lady Varnishes Orodruin

P2 Before Sunrise is a metallic burgundy red polish with duochrome that shifts to a plum-purple with a hint of blue at extreme angles. I got this polish in a swap with a lovely woman from the Netherlands. Two coats, although the second was hardly needed.

On the accent nail is Orodruin from indie polish maker The Lady Varnishes. It’s a shimmery copper-orange duochrome with a tiny bit of holo sparkle in it, that shifts to a golden yellow and then greenish yellow. It dries to a satin-matte finish; here I’ve used two coats plus top coat.

Indigo Bananas Endless Nights

Sorry for the lack of posts! I haven’t been swatching/photographing lately but I still have plenty of photos I never posted so I think I should start posting them even if I don’t have tons of time to do elaborate write-ups or anything!

This is Indigo Bananas Endless Nights, a plum/burgundy duochrome holo with strong blue/pink duochrome. I can’t remember if this was two or three coats.

Ninja Polish Shillelagh

Yet another green indie. I love this – and the other few Ninja Polish Enigma collection polishes I own. I hope they start production up again soon; I’d love to get Mystic Glacier (and all the others I don’t have yet!)

Anyway, this one is Shillelagh, a green base with multichrome red-to-green colour shifting pigment. Three coats (it’s a little sheer to allow the colour shift to show prominently), no issues with application.
