Picture Polish Revenge and Nemesis

Picture Polish Revenge and Nemesis are gorgeous glowy burgundy duochrome shimmer polishes, without and with scattered holo, respectively. I used Revenge as an accent nail on my ring finger. I did two coats of each polish, no top coat here.

Northern Star Polish Marsala and Pretty and Polished Saucey Marsala

Homage to Pantone’s colour of the year, Marsala, today!

northernstar_marsala_prettyandpolished_sauceymarsala5

Northern Star Polish’s Marsala is the darker marsala jelly-based holo. I used three coats plus top coat.

northernstar_marsala_prettyandpolished_sauceymarsala4

The lighter marsala-toned pink is Saucey Marsala by Pretty and Polished, part of their Dusty Cremes collection.

northernstar_marsala_prettyandpolished_sauceymarsala3

It has tiny bits of dusty greyish pigment in it, like the others in the collection. Love that effect! Two coats plus top coat for this polish.

These two go marsalas together really well!

Zoya India and Comparison

This burgundy-red beauty is India from Zoya’s Ignite collection of last fall. Shown in two coats, no top coat. Great formula. It’s got a ton of glass-fleck shimmer that reflects golden, red and purple tones.

Here’s a comparison between India and Zoya’s Anastasia, Joe Fresh Cinnamon, and FingerPaints Palette of Perfection.

Anastasia is shown in four coats; it’s a lot more sheer. It also has a more plum-leaning base, and the base is metallic instead of jellyish like India’s. I would say Anastasia is like a plum version of Zoya Autumn with its more metallic base.

Joe Fresh Cinnamon is shown in two coats like India. It’s got a lighter red base and less intense golden shimmer than India.

And finally, FingerPaints Palette of Perfection is also two coats. It’s a truer red with no hint of burgundy/purple, and its golden shimmer gives it a very warm/orangey tone.

OPI La Boheme

OPI La Boheme is a hard-to-find polish from the 2003 Holiday on Broadway collection by OPI, and is also pretty much my favourite polish ever. Most of the photos are with Ott Lite; a couple where noted are with flash.

opi_laboheme4

It’s a deep burgundy-red with sparkly colour-shifting pigment that goes from red to gold to green.

opi_laboheme3

I wore this polish when I got married. 🙂

opi_laboheme2(1)

I’m not sure whether this was two or three coats. These photos were taken a while ago and I don’t seem to have written it down, at least not in my usual notebook…

opi_laboheme5

It can look very different in different lighting. With flash the purple-ish side comes out:

The rest of the photos show one coat layered over black for maximum multichrome colour-shifting goodness.

How much do I love this polish? Well, I even have a backup bottle, and purchased both of them at crazy ebay prices. I still think it was worth it. No regrets for this one!! 😀

Nubar Gold Leaf

Gold Leaf is an awesome older golden-bronze/burgundy duochrome from Nubar. I think this was two coats. Various lighting, with and without flash.

P2 Before Sunrise and The Lady Varnishes Orodruin

P2 Before Sunrise is a metallic burgundy red polish with duochrome that shifts to a plum-purple with a hint of blue at extreme angles. I got this polish in a swap with a lovely woman from the Netherlands. Two coats, although the second was hardly needed.

On the accent nail is Orodruin from indie polish maker The Lady Varnishes. It’s a shimmery copper-orange duochrome with a tiny bit of holo sparkle in it, that shifts to a golden yellow and then greenish yellow. It dries to a satin-matte finish; here I’ve used two coats plus top coat.

Indigo Bananas Endless Nights

Sorry for the lack of posts! I haven’t been swatching/photographing lately but I still have plenty of photos I never posted so I think I should start posting them even if I don’t have tons of time to do elaborate write-ups or anything!

This is Indigo Bananas Endless Nights, a plum/burgundy duochrome holo with strong blue/pink duochrome. I can’t remember if this was two or three coats.

A England Briarwood and Briar Rose

Today I have two A England polishes to show you, Briarwood and Briar Rose from the Burne-Jones Dream collection. Briarwood is a deep reddish-brown metallic based holo. Its base is more brown, but it has a metallic red shimmer to it. Briar Rose is a similar holo in a fuchsia pink shade. These are pretty much perfect in terms of formula. The photos show just one coat of each, and no top coat. I love these! Not much more to say about perfection so I’ll let the photos speak for themselves!

Glitter Gal Transfusion and comparisons

I recently got the opportunity to review one of Glitter Gal’s newer holos, Transfusion! Transfusion is a deep red-violet shade and is really gorgeous!

Glitter Gal Transfusion

Its colour is somewhere in between burgundy and purple. I used two coats and no top coat for these photos.

Glitter Gal Transfusion

The formula is great; no issues at all!

Glitter Gal Transfusion

Lovely, and unique holo shade!

Glitter Gal Transfusion

Here is a comparison to some other burgundy and purple holos I have.

Thumb to pinkie: Picture Polish Monroe (original version), Ozotic 513, Glitter Gal Transfusion, Zoya Aurora, LA Girl Sparkle Ruby

Thumb to pinkie: Picture Polish Monroe (original version), Ozotic 513, Glitter Gal Transfusion, Zoya Aurora, LA Girl Sparkle Ruby

Here we have Picture Polish Monroe (original version – the new version has much larger holo particles and is closer to LA Girl Sparkle Ruby from what I’ve seen in photos), Ozotic 513, Glitter Gal Transfusion, Zoya Aurora, LA Girl Sparkle Ruby. Two coats of each (although Sparkle Ruby could be a one-coater).

The comparison under the Ott Lite:

Thumb to pinkie: Picture Polish Monroe (original version), Ozotic 513, Glitter Gal Transfusion, Zoya Aurora, LA Girl Sparkle Ruby

As you can see, these are all great polishes but none of the others are similar to Transfusion! I love Transfusion, and its sister polish, a warm brick-red holo shade named Hot Chili, is going on my wish list!

You can order Glitter Gal polishes directly from them here or from one of their distributors listed here.

Disclosure: Glitter Gal Transfusion was provided to me by the company for review purposes. The opinions stated are my own honest opinions.

Orly Smolder

Orly Smolder is from last fall’s Fired Up collection (these photos were actually also taken last fall, still have a backlog of posts!). It’s a beautiful, dark glowing burgundy wine red shimmer. It’s not so dark that it ever looks black, and there is a hint of an orange flash to it in the bottle, that doesn’t really show up on the nail. Gorgeous colour, though!

Orly Smolder

This is two coats (plus topcoat), and the formula is great, no complaints at all.

Orly Smolder

This mani was a couple of days old when I took the photos, so if you click to look at the full size photos you may see a few scratches on the surface and some tip wear, but that’s just my usual wear and tear.

Orly Smolder

This one is *almost* as awesome as Flicker, my favourite from the Fired Up collection!
