Apologies to my readers who don’t speak French; I thought this post should definitely be in French! 😛 Also, this is a preview of my new nail shape I’ve had for several weeks now – as usual I’m wayyyy behind on posts so I still have a bunch with my previous shape to post before getting to the newer stuff 🙂

Since it’s the first day of fall here in the northern hemisphere, I thought it would be a good day to post Picture Polish Autumn.

picturepolish_autumn_flash2

Autumn is a burnt orange jelly based scattered holo that was released this summer. I used two coats, no topcoat here. It has a smooth jelly base, leaving a little bit of visible nail line. These first two photos are with flash.

picturepolish_autumn_flash

In the shade:

picturepolish_autumn_shade

I wanted to compare Autumn to LA Girl Electric Coral, another orange scattered holo jelly. Here is Electric Coral in the bottle next to Autumn.  I also added an orange Pretty and Polished shade, Crush, to the comparison.

picturepolish_autumn_lagirl_electriccoral

Thumb to pinkie in the photos below: Picture Polish Autumn, LA Girl Electric Coral, Autumn, Pretty and Polished Crush, Autumn. Each two coats plus top coat here, except for Crush which is three coats plus top coat (Crush dries slightly matte, hence the addition of top coat to everything).

picturepolish_autumn_lagirl_electriccoral_prettyandpolished_crush2

The LA Girl is darker and redder with coarser/denser holo particles. Crush is totally different, much yellower and with much more subtle and finer holo particles.

I realized I had just gotten another polish that would be good to compare to Electric Coral, that being Glitter Gal Dorothy’s Revenge. Here it is in the bottle next to Electric Coral.

lagirl_electriccoral_glittergal_dorothy

Here is the same comparison as before but with Dorothy’s Revenge instead of Crush on the ring finger.

picturepolish_autumn_lagirl_electriccoral_glittergal_dorothy3

Left to right: LA Girl Electric Coral, Picture Polish Autumn, Glitter Gal Dorothy’s Revenge, Autumn. I used three coats of Dorothy’s Revenge (plus topcoat).

picturepolish_autumn_lagirl_electriccoral_glittergal_dorothy2

In the bottle the Glitter Gal looks redder than the LA Girl, but on the nail it actually looks slightly oranger. The Glitter Gal is more sheer, meant to be a topper or a sheer jelly, so this makes sense. It’s kind of like a sheerer, less dense (in terms of holo particles) version of the LA Girl. They both lean more towards red/coral than the Picture Polish (as expected, given their names!).

❤ orange!

I’ve got some more nails inspired by my cat Jasmine to show you today! Her full name is actually Jasmine Blossom so I wanted to use these two polishes together for some nail art. First some swatches of the polishes used. Both are older, discontinued Zoya shades.

zoya_jasmine_shade2

Zoya Jasmine, three coats plus top coat. The third wasn’t strictly necessary but did deepen the colour slightly. Shown here in overcast natural light.

zoya_jasmine_shade

Jasmine is a shimmery metallic berry red-pink. Under Ott lite:

zoya_jasmine_ott

With flash:

zoya_jasmine_flash

Zoya Blossom, a slightly peachy off-white with fine pink shimmer. I’m not sure if this was three or four coats; I apparently forgot to write it down! I did write down that the formula was a little thin (which makes me think it’s probably four coats) but surprisingly un-streaky for a white! Under Ott lite:

Under halogen light:

With flash:

I then stamped over Blossom using Jasmine, with an image of jasmine blossoms (? that’s what I decided these flowering branches were, anyway! haha) from plate Hehe-023. Photos of the stamping are all with flash.

I loved this combo!!

And now some photos of my semi-feral Jasmine: a collage with her sitting in a box and with her brother Thor, with whom she’s very close (and Julius lolling about in the background of one!) , and then one of her on the bed (she was actually leaned up against my leg when I woke up from a nap!)

Indigo Bananas Spring 2015

indigobananas_spring2015

Better late than never? I’ve got skittle swatches of the Indigo Bananas Spring 2015 collection today. I used three coats for each plus top coat, and the swatch photos are all with flash.

Holding the bottle of Saffron Revolution:

Holding the bottle of Cherry Blossom Roads (which is on my thumb and is shown in the next pics):

Thumb to pinkie: Cherry Blossom Roads, Saffron Revolution, Land of Green Ginger, Fluffy Little Clouds, Jacaranda.

Love these pretty pastels with contrasting glass flecks! Here are some pics showing the colours of the glass fleck shimmer in the bottles:

indigobananas_jacaranda_fluffylittleclouds_saffronrevolution_shimmer

From left, Jacaranda’s glass flecks shift from pink to gold. Fluffy Little Clouds and Saffron Revolution have the most similar shimmer among the five shades.

indigobananas_fluffylittleclouds_saffronrevolution_shimmer

But, you can see that Fluffy Little Clouds has purple to pink glass flecks while Saffron Revolution seems to have those same ones plus some turquoise ones.

indigobananas_cherryblossomroads_landofgreenginger_shimmer

Cherry Blossome Roads has turquoise-green glass flecks while Land of Green Ginger’s are golden.

Today I have swatches of three beautiful scattered holos from Il était un vernis’ summer collection.

iletaitunvernis_myfavoritepopsicle_shade2

First is My Favorite Popsicle, a pink-red scattered holo with pink glass fleck shimmer. Two coats plus top coat; it has an excellent smooth formula and was almost opaque in one coat. Shown in the shade in these first two photos.

Next up is Under the Pink, a fuchsia pink scattered holo with pink glass fleck shimmer.

iletaitunvernis_underthepink3

Also two coats plus top coat, same excellent formula. Shown in sunlight in these first photos.

The third one is Mint To Be Yours, a minty scattered holo shade with gold flecks.

iletaitunvernis_minttobe4

This one is a bit more sheer, and I used three coats plus top coat. Nice smooth formula. Shown in sunlight.

This pretty light rosy taupe nude shade is Black Dahlia Lacquer New Dawn.

blackdahlialacquer_newdawn3

It’s full of holo microglitter, turquoise glass fleck, and pink-purple-blue shifting microflakies.

blackdahlialacquer_newdawn2

I used two coats plus top coat.

I did a comparison with a couple of polishes that aren’t really that close, heheh. Index finger is Ruby White Tips Kim and ring finger is Maya Cosmetics Vintage.

rubywhitetipskim_blackdahlianewdawn_mayavintage2 (Top to bottom: RWT Kim, BDL New Dawn, Maya Vintage, BDL New Dawn)

Kim is pinker and has very subtle scattered holo particles (not microglitter like New Dawn). Vintage is a much darker dusty rose-mauve and also has holo particles as opposed to microglitter.

rubywhitetipskim_blackdahlianewdawn_mayavintage (Left to right: RWT Kim, BDL New Dawn, Maya Vintage, BDL New Dawn)

Edit: Laura of Ruby White Tips has commented below that she’s currently got a 20% off code good for all Ruby White Tips polishes, please scroll down to the comments for the code and link to her store if you’re interested in Kim or any of her other polishes. You can see some of her other shades that I’ve posted about before by checking out my brand Category “Ruby White Tips”. 🙂

Powder Perfect Lorelei has a periwinkle-leaning light purple creme base with green glass flecks and fuchsia-purple microflakies.

powderperfect_lorelei

I used three coats plus top coat here, although it’s really more of a two-coater, I was just having the impression that it somehow didn’t want to stick to the base coat I was using (Illamasqua, for the record – not really my favourite base coat, I won’t be repurchaing it).

powderperfect_lorelei2

Then I had the impression that I’d seen this before somewhere…

Here is Indigo Bananas Electric Unicorns, a periwinkle creme with green glass flecks and fuchsia-purple microflakies.

indigobananas_electricunicorns

I used three thin coats plus top coat.

Under Ott lite:

indigobananas_electricunicorns_ott

Here are the bottles next to each other. Now, clearly the Powder Perfect is a shade more purple/darker but other than that they’re quite similar.

indigobananas_electricunicorns_powderperfect_lorelei_bottles

Here’s the comparison on the nail; three coats for the Indigo Bananas (on the index and middle), two coats for the Powder Perfect (on the ring and pinkie) (I managed to get it to play nicer with the base coat this time).

indigobananas_electricunicorns_powderperfect_lorelei

The Indigo Bananas is definitely a bit more sheer in addition to being slightly bluer. You can kind of see a streak on my middle finger where I didn’t apply it as evenly…

indigobananas_electricunicorns_powderperfect_lorelei2(Top to bottom: IB, IB, PP, PP)

Despite that my own personal pick is the Indigo Bananas just because I’ve had it longer and have a much bigger collection of their polishes! 🙂 Although I do think these qualify as “similar, not the same”, so I can see how someone might want to have both!

indigobananas_electricunicorns_powderperfect_lorelei3(Left to right: IB, IB, PP, PP)

I did this comparison a while ago and have since sent the Powder Perfect on to a new home with a nail polish buddy of mine, hope she enjoys it 🙂

indigobananas_electricunicorns_powderperfect_lorelei4(Top to bottom: IB, IB, PP, PP)

Two polishes named Jasmine! And they happen to go together very well.

picturepolish_misa_jasmine3

This is Misa Jasmine, a wonderfully dusty light purple creme, with an accent nail of Picture Polish Jasmine, which has green, silver and blue medium hex glitter and similar-sized purple square glitter in a lavender crelly base.

picturepolish_misa_jasmine2

I used two coats plus top coat for Misa Jasmine. It had a great, smooth and creamy formula.

picturepolish_misa_jasmine

For Picture Polish Jasmine, I used three coats plus top coat for even glitter coverage. With flash:

picturepolish_misa_jasmine_flash

And here’s a little crossed-paws, head tilting (to follow the fingers I was wiggling at her!) Jasmine collage:

Zoya Tiana

Here’s a quick post to show you Zoya Tiana, a pretty pastel green creme from the spring 2015 Delight collection. Three coats plus topcoat. In sun:

Picture Polish Douceur is a very pretty pale pinkish-beige nude shade with scattered holo and small and medium magenta hex glitter. I used two coats plus top coat. With flash (as are the later photos with the accent nail):

picturepolish_douceur

Under Ott Lite:

picturepolish_douceur_ott

I stamped an scaly-patterned accent nail using Finger Paints Minimalistic Mauve (which I think would have been better named minimalistic magenta) and plate Hehe-005.
