Homage to Pantone’s colour of the year, Marsala, today!
Northern Star Polish’s Marsala is the darker marsala jelly-based holo. I used three coats plus top coat.
The lighter marsala-toned pink is Saucey Marsala by Pretty and Polished, part of their Dusty Cremes collection.
It has tiny bits of dusty greyish pigment in it, like the others in the collection. Love that effect! Two coats plus top coat for this polish.
These two go marsalas together really well!
I’ve got a couple of lovely pastel holos with glass-flecks and shimmer to show you today.
The lime green is Il était un vernis Matcha Doing Today? and the seafoam /minty blue-green is Picture Polish Honeymoon. First two photos under Ottlite.
I used three coats each plus top coat. Flash photos:
I then added stamping using Colour Alike “A Blue Ocean” over Matcha Doing Today and “A Fresh Mojito” over Honeymoon. The image is from It Girl plate 101.
The mani I have to show you today features three great polishes and an awesome stamping plate from It Girl Nail Art.
On my index and middle finger are two coats plus top coat of Picture Polish Eerie, a lilac “bijou holo” i.e. scattered holo with multicoloured glass flecks. On my ring and pinkie, three coats plus top coat of Kunimitsu Nail Potions Red Empress, a great bluish lilac crelly with pink shimmer and various glitters in red, pink and copper.
I added stamping on the index finger using Colour Alike stamping polish “A Sunset” and an image from It Girl plate 101 from their recently released first set of three stamping plates.
I even took pictures of my right hand, that’s how much I loved this mani! 😉 So, here are (entirely too many) random pics of this on both hands!
Here’s a picture of the It Girl plate. These are rectangular plates 6cm by 12cm long, and the images are quite large so no worries about them being too small for long or large nails. I’m going to be having a giveaway soon for one of the It Girl plates along with some other goodies so stay tuned for that. 🙂
Here are some Halloween nails featuring two Pretty and Polished dusty cremes! I started with two coats plus top coat of In The Buff, a mustard yellow with the tiny dusty speckles characteristic of this collection. This first Ott lite photo is the most colour accurate; in the other flash photos it appears more orangey than in real life.

I then sponged on a gradient using the orange polish from the dusty cremes collection, called CD 255,165.
Finally I added some Halloween stamping using Kleancolor Metallic Black and Bundle Monster plate BM-H08. They went on a little patchy, but I’ll just say they’re ghostly bats and cats and eyes!
Zoya Mason is a gorgeous red-toned purple shimmer with red pigment sparks. I paired it with Colour Alike 547, which has a brown-plum base with holo and duochrome that shifts blue-purple-plum-fuchsia-orange. I used two coats plus top coat for each of these polishes.

Emily de Molly Lace Man is a medium grey polish with lots of gorgeous pink shimmer.
I used two coats plus top coat and it had a very nice formula.
I stamped a couple of accent nails over Lace Man using Orly Rose Radiance, which is a great polish for stamping. The image is from Pueen 108.
Love this polish and combo!
I later added some more stamping so that the one remaining plain nail became the accent nail! This last photo is with flash.
Nubar Affair is a teal green jelly with lots of fine gold shimmer particles. I’d say this first (phone) photo is the most colour-accurate; the others seem slightly too blue.
I used three coats plus top coat; as you can see there’s still a little visible nail line in certain lights.
I did a comparison to two other similar polishes. Top to bottom in the photo below: Pretty Serious Khepri’s Amulet (two coats), Nubar Affair, NYX Jungle (four coats), Nubar Affair.
Khepri’s Amulet is slightly greener than Affair and is more brushstokey with its frostier metallic finish. NYX Jungle is more sheer than Affair, and on the nail its gold shimmer is more distinct from the base.
Today I have three Eat Sleep Polish holos with colour-shifting glass flecks to show you. First, Supernova with an accent nail of Jupiter Grapes. Supernova is a fuchsia/plum sort of shade with blue-to-fuchsia glass flecks. Jupiter Grapes is a slightly blue-toned purple with similar blue-to-fuchsia glass flecks, although they don’t appear as prominent as in Supernova. Under Ott lite:

On my right hand I did the opposite using Supernova as the accent and Jupiter Grapes for most of the nails. With flash:

Later I decided to compare Jupiter Grapes and Planet Pluto, which is an indigo-toned blue, again with glass flecks that mostly appear blue in this polish. Here is Planet Pluto with a ring finger accent of Jupiter Grapes, in sunlight:

This mani features an old, hard-to-find black label OPI called Glacier Bay Blues, which has a navy blue base with purple-to-green duochrome shift. The ring finger accent is BB Couture Pipe Bender, which has a muted dark green base with some subtle purple duochrome shimmer. I used three thin coats for each (although the BB Couture could easily be a two coater) plus top coat.

I added some stamping to the accent nail that didn’t really turn out, since it’s not very visible, but here it is anyway. I used my bottle of Kleancolor Metallic Sapphire, which is strangely no longer its original royal blue colour, but is now a dusty dark purple. I’ve seen fading blue pigments before, but this was kind of strange in that it turned really quite purple! It almost looks like OPI Ink Suede now, except more muted and even more purple. Anyway, it wasn’t enough of a contrast to Pipe Bender to show up well, unfortunately, and I liked the mani better without the stamping. The image is from plate Hehe-024.
Black Dahlia Lacquer Lace Aloe is a beautiful turquoise linear holo with blue glass flecks. Two coats plus top coat. With flash:
