Picture Polish Electric Dream

Today’s Picture Polish beauty is Electric Dream!

Picture Polish Electric Dream

Electric Dream is a coral-leaning pink with fine gold shimmer and scattered holo particles.

Picture Polish Electric Dream

Shown are two coats. The formula was thicker than Shy Violet’s but in a good way; it was quite easy to handle.

Picture Polish Electric Dream

I love the gold shimmer, it just makes this polish extra special!

Ninja Polish Pacific Coral and LA Splash Star Coral

I’ve got a great indie polish to show you today! This is Ninja Polish Pacific Coral, a coral creme with a beautiful duochrome shimmer in it.

Ninja Polish Pacific Coral and LA Splash Star Coral

The shimmer flashes from gold to green depending on the angle, and is very visible!

Two coats of Pacific Coral plus topcoat. The formula was perfect!

On my ring finger I have two coats of LA Splash Star Coral on top of Pacific Coral.

China Glaze Sun of a Peach and comparisons

Here’s another neon from the China Glaze Sunsational collection!

China Glaze Sun of a Peach

Sun of a Peach is a neon pastel peach, and a great unique colour! I like the name too, haha.

China Glaze Sun of a Peach

The formula is a bit difficult to work with, but not really worse than other neons or pastels.

China Glaze Sun of a Peach

I used three coats to even everything out. The photos include base coat and top coat.

China Glaze Sun of a Peach

I think the colour is certainly worth putting up with the neon formula. With flash:

In the shade:

China Glaze Sun of a Peach

And here is a nail wheel comparison with other peaches, neon and non-neon, and some that lean more towards coral. The photo was taken with flash, but somehow the polishes still look a bit darker than they do in real life. So, word of warning that these aren’t colour accurate, but give a good indication of the relative differences in these polishes!

Sun of a Peach and peach/coral comparisons

1) China Glaze Sun of a Peach, 2) Misa Shake it to the Samba, 3) China Glaze Peachy Keen, 4) Nubar Orange Creme, 5) NCLA Poolside Party All Eyes On Me, 6) Joe Fresh Orange Sorbet, 7) Kleancolor Mango, 8) Jessica Tangerine Dreamz, 9) NYX Amazon, 10) Cult Nails Scandalous, 11) OPI Apricotcha Cheating, 12) FingerPaints Circus Peanuts, 13) NYX Girls Naked Pink, 14) Funky Fingers Daiquiri on the Deck, 15) Barry M Peach Melba, 16) Kleancolor Pastel Orange, 17) Illamasqua Purity, 18) Essence Rebels Peach Punk

None of these are close to Sun of a Peach; the most similar are Kleancolor Mango which is darker and much less bright, and oldie NYX Amazon which is a translucent jelly with iridescent glitter, however. But as you can see there are some dupes and near-dupes among the other polishes – notably China Glaze Peachy Keen and Misa Shake it to the Samba which are basically identical. Cult Nails Scandalous is also similar to OPI Apricotcha Cheating, and Kleancolor Pastel Orange to Illamasqua Purity, but those pairs aren’t close enough to be dupes.

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy and Sun Worshipper

More neons! This is a fun manicure I did using two older China Glaze neons, Flip Flop Fantasy and Sun Worshipper.

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy and Sun Worshipper

Sun Worshipper is a neon yellow-orange, and Flip Flop Fantasy a neon pink-coral. Three coats each, plus top coat (they dry semi-matte, like most neons do).

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy and Sun Worshipper

The formula on these is kind of streaky, but no worse than most other neons in my opinion. The result is certainly worth waiting a couple minutes between coats to prevent dragging. Top coat also helps smooth out the finish.

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy and Sun Worshipper

Apparently Flip Flop Fantasy has recently been reformulated, and the newer version is more peach-coral. I’m going to have to check that out next time I’m in Sally Beauty, since I love peach!! πŸ™‚

China Glaze Neon & On & On, Shell-o, and neon pink comparisons!

China Glaze Neon & On & On and Shell-o are from their recent Sunsational collection of neons. Since they’re both in the pink-coral family, I thought I’d post them together along with nail wheel swatches of all the neon pinks I own!

Shell-o is a neon coral pink jelly. I used three coats over ridge filler for the swatches. I didn’t have problems with application for this one.

China Glaze Shell-o

It dries somewhere between glossy and matte, and these photos do not include top coat.

China Glaze Shell-o

In the shade:

China Glaze Shell-o

Neon & On & On is a warm/coral leaning pastel neon pink creme. I used three coats over ridge filler, plus top coat.

China Glaze Neon & On & On

The formula on this one was difficult to work with. It helps to not go over the same spot twice while applying each coat.

China Glaze Neon & On & On

It dries very quickly, so that’s a plus. The polish dries matte, and a little lumpy before topcoat due to the thick and quick-drying formula. But top coat really helps to even it out. Next time I think I’ll try adding thinner to this one.

China Glaze Neon & On & On

ANd now for the great neon pink comparison! I’m including two photos in slightly different lighting (apologies that the orientation of the wheel isn’t quite the same in both photos).

LA Girl Electric Coral

Today I have some photos to share of LA Girl Electric Coral, one of their new scattered holos.

I’ve been wearing this polish all week (which never happens!), and only today on the 7th day have I gotten a chip (also never happens)!

LA Girl Electric Coral

Electric Coral has a red-orange jelly base with lots of coarse scattered holo particles. The holo is visible in indoor lighting as well as sunlight.

LA Girl Electric Coral

Shown are two coats over ridge-filling basecoat, with top coat. The formula was great. I took the photos after I had already been wearing it a few days.

LA Girl Electric Coral

I really really love this polish, that’s about all I have to say! πŸ˜€

Picture Polish Sunset

Hard to believe it’s already November! Today I have a decidedly summery polish to show you. I don’t necessarily follow the seasons when I choose a colour; I just wear what I feel like. Often enough, what I “feel like” does match the season, but definitely not always! Especially in mid-to-late winter, when the spring pastels and summer brights come out due to wishful thinking!

Picture Polish Sunset

This lovely bright neon coral is Sunset by Picture Polish.

Picture Polish Sunset

It dries a little matte, since it’s a neon. I didn’t add any topcoat for these photos so you can see the almost rubbery finish. The formula was fairly thick, and this is two coats. I didn’t have any issues with application.

Picture Polish Sunset

Now I’ll stare at these pictures for a bit and pretend that the temperature outside isn’t below freezing! πŸ˜‰

Zoya Myrta and Comparisons

Zoya Myrta is from their summer 2012 collection, Surf. I’m slowly but surely trying to do large nail wheel comparison posts for all of the Beach and Surf polishes. I like to see where shades fit into the colour spectrum of similar shades, and hopefully you do too, dear readers. πŸ™‚

Zoya Myrta

Myrta is an orange-red coral shade, with a finish somewhere between foil and glass fleck. This is two coats of Myrta, with two coats of Cult Nails Get it On base coat underneath as I’d heard this polish stains. The two coats of base coat did prevent staining, but did cause a bit of bubbling; not sure if I didn’t wait long enough between coats, or if Zoya just doesn’t play nicely with Cult Nails base coat…

Zoya Myrta

Bright, shimmery, pretty!

Zoya Myrta

Here are my nail wheel comparisons with Myrta! I used pretty much any polish in remotely the same colour family here, so the wheel is full! I realized afterward that I probably should have numbered or somehow indicated the start position on the wheel, but hopefully it’s not difficult to find Myrta as it’s pretty much at the top in both photos (more specifically, it’s the one right above the letter ‘L’ in the word ‘WHEEL’ that is on the centre of the wheel) and right next to it is the matte Manglaze polish (I applied topcoat to only half of this matte shade’s swatch). As usual, each swatch shows a progression of one, two and three coats of the given polish.

Like last time, I have to apologize again for the lack of appropriate lighting to properly and accurately show the nail wheel comparisons. Again, I did one photo in the sun and one under the Ott Lite. I’m waiting on a soft lightbox that I ordered, so hopefully soon I’ll be able to take better photos of these types of comparisons. Sun photo:

In terms of similarity, I’d say that Myrta is closest to LA Colors Aztec Orange (4th shade to the left of Myrta), although Aztec Orange has a sheerer base and more sparse shimmery flecks. As you can see, some of the shades on the wheel are dupes or near-dupes to one another, notably Milani Orange Burst and Flashlight, and the trio of LA Colors Fiery Orange, Nubar Arencia, and Milani Metal Gear.

Color Club Frills and Cult Nails Feel Me Up

I did some fun glitter nail art that’s been on my nails for several days now! (A long time for me, haha!)

Color Club Frills, Cult Nails Feel Me Up, and loose glitter

The yellow is Cult Nails Feel Me Up, a nice warm sunny yellow, and the coral is Color Club Frills, a deep pink coral.

Color Club Frills, Cult Nails Feel Me Up, and loose glitter

Both have nice creme formulas that go on quite smoothly (Feel Me Up is my new favourite yellow!) and are shown with two coats.

Color Club Frills, Cult Nails Feel Me Up, and loose glitter

I dabbed the coral glitter on with a finger while the yellow polish was still tacky. I got this glitter to use for making frankens, but haven’t done so yet. It’s from the online store GlitterUnique and it’s listed as solvent-resistant. When I bought it, it was called “matte salmon” glitter but I checked the site and they’re now listing it as “matte hot pink”.

Color Club Frills, Cult Nails Feel Me Up, and loose glitter

The large yellow hexes were something I picked up elsewhere and was hoping I could franken with as well, but it turns out they totally melt in polish, unfortunately! But they are still nice as nail art. For these, I applied a drop of topcoat and then pressed them onto the nail, doing so carefully to get the hexes straight.

Color Club Frills, Cult Nails Feel Me Up, and loose glitter

I then sealed everything with two layers of top coat. Oh and on the right hand, the colours are reversed; the first three fingers are the coral design and the last two the yellow. Love this manicure!

Orange/Coral Holo Birthday Mani!

Today is my birthday and here is the polish I wore! It started out yesterday when my partner took me out go-karting and mini golfing as a surprise for my birthday! So much fun, but when I was taking off my seatbelt to get out of the go-kart, I messed up the nail polish I had put on that afternoon (of course, it was totally worth it! haha)

So later on at home, I took off the smudged polish and decided to put on an old OPI, “Nice Hand… Great Nails” just to see what it was like… Well, it’s very very sheer, and not really in a good way in my opinion. And this is coming from someone who likes sheer polishes that show visible nail line… Anyway, this one was a very sheer orange coral shimmer that looked about the same colour as the stains on my nails from the neon coral I was wearing the other day, so I wasn’t too impressed! (I guess I should have taken a photo of it anyway to show it, but I didn’t…)

I had only put on two coats, so normally I would have added a few more but I didn’t feel like staying up any later to let them dry and see if I liked the result any better. I was about to take it off and start over with something that I knew would dry quickly, but then I decided to try adding a layer of Ozotic 522, a coral holo. Magic! It turned out wonderfully.

Ozotic 522 over OPI Nice Hand... Great Nails

Two coats of OPI Nice Hand Great Nails followed by one coat of Ozotic 522, topped with OPI Designer Series top coat.

Ozotic 522 over OPI Nice Hand... Great Nails

It was recently announced that the entire Ozotic 500-series is being discontinued. The 500-series includes a lot of great holographic and multichrome polishes… the good news is that they’re all on sale right now until they’re sold out! So I just “had” to get a bunch of them while I still could, and 522 is one of the ones I got.

Ozotic 522 over OPI Nice Hand... Great Nails

They’re sold online from Picture Polish in Australia, Harlow & Co., Overall Beauty and Llarowe in North America, as well as some other sellers in other countries. If you want some, best to get them now while they’re still around!

Ozotic 522 over OPI Nice Hand... Great Nails

Hopefully Ozotic is only discontinuing them because they’ve come up with something even more awesome that they’ll release soon! We’ll have to wait and see…

Anyway, I really love how this mani turned out; orangey coral holo seems like a great birthday celebration colour to me! And it’s been a really nice birthday weekend with great weather and plenty of fun and relaxation. πŸ™‚

Bonus photo of Jasmine who has claimed the nail polish storage area lately! (Well, she takes turns with Fred.) Here she is lying on top of the Ikea Helmers! I think they like them because the metal surface is nice and cool in this hot weather…
